Rip;She died a painful death after taking bullets at the back of an Saps Van

A tragic incident occurred in Kraaifontein, resulting in the shooting and death of 19-year-old Nolukhanyo Nkosiyane. Reports suggest that Nolukhanyo had been spending time with friends but when her friends decided to head towards Khayelitsha, she opted to stay behind. Her friends dropped her off at the Kraaifontein police station, hoping that the police could assist in getting Nolukhanyo home safely.

Allegedly, the police officers at the station declined to transport Nolukhanyo and instructed her to wait for a patrolling van. Several hours later, a double-cab police van arrived, and Nolukhanyo was taken on board, presumably on her way home. However, during the journey, the police van came to a stop near a high school on Old Paarl Road after being flagged down by an unknown individual seeking assistance. Tragically, while the police vehicle was stationary, an unidentified man opened fire, aiming at the van.

Fortunately, the bullet missed the police officer sitting in the front but tragically struck Nolukhanyo in the forehead as she sat in the backseat. She was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries the following day.

Disturbingly, after the devastating news of Nolukhanyo's untimely death, her family reportedly experienced a prolonged period of silence from the police, lasting over three weeks. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, leaving the community in a state of grief and frustration. The loss of Nolukhanyo has shattered the hearts of those who knew her, leaving behind a one-year-old daughter who will grow up without her mother.

The community now demands answers and justice for Nolukhanyo, urging the police to prioritize their investigation and apprehend those responsible for this senseless act of violence.
