A Nigerian father, Confidence Amatobi, has allegedly broken his two-month-old son Miracle's right arm with a coat hanger for disturbing his sleep in Imo state Nigeria.
The National Commission on Human Rights (NHRC) and the Association of Nigerian Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State Branch, have asked the Imo State Government and Nigerian Police to immediately arrest and prosecute Amatobi for allegedly assaulting her two-month-old baby
Amatobi was said to have assaulted little Miracle with a plastic hanger, which led to the amputation of the fractured arm at the Pediatrics ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Owerri.
NAWOJ, NHRC, and the aggrieved mother of baby Miracle made the call for justice in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
The chairman of NAWOJ in the state of Imo, Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, speaking to reporters after visiting the amputee at the Owerri Federal Medical Center (FMC), confirmed that the 31-year-old father, who is from Amuri in Isu, suffered an LGA injury in the stands that led to the amputation. from the boy's right arm.
Nnaji revealed how her husband repeatedly hit the baby with plastic braces to stop him from crying until he broke his right arm.
"he used a plastic hanger on his baby just because he was crying."
Seeing the baby's arm broken, he tied the baby's arm with a wooden rubber band, adding that she locked her and the baby for two days so she couldn't talk to neighbors or seek help.
She further claimed that he took his phone when she found her way out and sought help from her neighbour, the baby's arm was rotting and she had no choice but to cut the Baby Miracle's right arm from his shoulder.
