She was mockly dubbed the "Hottentot Venus" by foreigners because during her brief life, her figure was cruelly displayed and subjected to public scrutiny.
Furthermore, when Saartjie Baartman had been in her mid 20s in 1810, an English ship's physician named William Dunlop convinced her to go to England in attempt to implement her wealth. Nevertheless, because she was a Khoikho lady, she was viewed as an anthropological oddity in England, where she was exposed to the public as a carnal Lust known as the Hottentot Venus, she became a cultural phenomenon in Britain. In a Fruitfuless Judicial Struggle, abolitionist tried to rescue her from her owner.
In 1814, Saartjie Baartman was sent to paris, where she remained display as a freak.
She is now the focus of Biomedical Study, which helped shape European conception of black female eroticism upon her pass.
